Push: Name a few film spots you appeared in?

Lenore: The Switch and I Clean Up Your Grave are the most notable and recent films I am trying to work on a non-union project. I want to by this year or early 2012 if not I will just join both of the unions and stop holding off.

Push: What are some of the Challenges of being a model?
Lenore: Proper exposure, finding jobs, getting an agency that will actually work for you and not being exploited or used as a means for someone else to make money while you have nothing to show for your time.

Push: If you could start over what would you do different?
Lenore: I would go overseas and not worry so much about what people outside of the industry say about the requirements. I also would not waste so much time with people that are not good for me for sake of being nice or being hopeful.

Push: If  “L” was a rapper who would you sound like?
Lenore: Lauryn Hill with a hint of Rah Digga, dash of crazy Nicki Minaj.

Push: Best place to get a Philly Cheese Steak?

Lenore: Any mom and pop corner store type place with onions, peppers, mayonnaise and ketchup and NO Cheez Wiz!

Push: Best  spot to hear good music?

Lenore: I have been to Grey Social Lounge a few times they have cool live music in a small intimate space or Lowes hotel for live jazz.

Push: Best time of year to be in Philly?

Lenore: The summer as with anywhere! Mid summer is the best time to have water ice and pretzels, while you go to the water front. And also the best time for going to the restaurants in OldeCity, sitting outside.

Push: What city as a model/actress would you prefer to live in Atl, LA, or Washington DC? I would say LA or Atlanta.

Lenore: LA for obvious reasons and Atl because it seems to be growing in the acting industry and I assume it would not be as intense as LA can be. Both have a nice climate and scenery.

A TASTE OF PHILLY

Hailing from Orlando, Florida born under the astrological sign of Leo (The Queen), Peach has been singing since her early childhood. At the tender age of four she totally shocked all in attendance at Pleasantview Missionary Baptist Church when she entered into their local talent show. Everyone was so surprised that such a strong voice could come from this young child. From there she would go on under the guise of two of her most endeared teachers, Mr. Notary and Mrs. Wadsworth to study many different styles of music including Calypso, Rock, pop, jazz, musicals and songs from Disney soundtracks. Her love of music led her to begin writing poems, and then hooks and eventually complete lyrical compositions.

Throughout her early years in high school her love for music remained but the passion had somehow began to fade as she experienced the issues that adolescents have to deal with. However, by the time that she graduated those very experiences would serve as a catalyst for her return to song writing and performing. To this day she credits her inspiration for writing and performing from all types of music, sounds, past and current situations and just plain old everyday living.  As one listens to her compositions the listener may easily find a song for every mood and situation they may come across. As she delivers each of her selections with heartfelt emotion, passion and exuberance that only experience can provide. In her spare time she loves to write, read books, and exercise. 

Artist that have influenced her include Whitney Houston, Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin, Diana Ross, Janet Jackson, Mariah Carey and Mary J. Blige. She has also been heavily influenced by the very people that she has crossed paths with in her lifetime. In her own words she states  “Good or bad experiences have made me who I am. I look forward to sharing my world with people, whom actually want to see, know, and hear what I have to say.”

Peach is signed to JaThom Records, a New York based independent record label owned and operated by Count Coolout, one of the founding fathers of Hip Hop music. She was discovered by one of The Count’s cousins, AJ Destiny, a member of the Orlando, Florida Hip Hop group The Az- One Project.  She maintains a very intense schedule; whereas she is continuing her studies to become a nurse, while maintaining her involvement in the local church choir, performing live throughout the South and working on songs for her next release. Somehow she manages to handle it all with the slightest of ease. Peach is a wonderful person to be around and an inspiration to all that cross her path. She now wants to bring that very inspirational element which she possesses to the entire world.

Shontelle began writing songs as a child for fun, and always loved to sing. She knew Rihanna at school, but it was with another one-named singer named Nathalie, that Shontelle recorded a local hit called “Colours” which spoke of Barbadian national pride. Even though Shontelle dreamed of a singing career, her parents’ insistence on a good education got her to refocus on becoming an entertainment lawyer.

“I have always wanted to be in the entertainment business and I had dreams of reaching beyond the shores of Barbados and the Caribbean,” she told a newspaper in Barbados.

 Shontelle was only a few credits shy of becoming a lawyer when she finally decided to pursue a musical career instead. In 2005, while still in school, Shontelle co-wrote the 2005 Alison Hinds hit “Roll It” which made the top of the charts inBarbadosand nearbyTrinidad and Tobago.During the past several years, New York-based songwriters and music producers Evan Rogers and Carl Sturken have held auditions inBarbados, and in 2004, they discovered Rihanna. As Rihanna’s first album soared up the charts, Rogers and Sturken returned toBarbadosto see if lightning could possibly strike twice. In early 2006, the duo first heard Shontelle after friends told them that they had to listen to this local girl who wrote her own songs.

Ken Webb hosting ‘Webb-Cast’ from fest

The WIR ‘Webb-Cast’ will begin Thursday and continue through Sunday. The Webb-Cast will originate from the Crowne Plaza Reading.

Hosts Ken ‘Spider’ Webb and Teri Webb along with Philly Syndication Network presentation artists Maxx Myrick, Vernon Robbins, The Good Doctor Phil, and Jerry Wells will make up the on-air hosts.

The leaders of several African countries, including Uganda, South Africa and Zimbabwe, have condemned the air strikes on Libya.

 Uganda’s President Yoweri Museveni has written a lengthy newspaper article accusing the West of double standards. He was one of five African leaders tasked with finding a solution to the crisis, whose mission to Tripoli was called off when the air strikes began. South Africa’s Jacob Zuma was also on the African Union panel. Although South Africa voted in favour of UN resolution 1973, which authorised military action to protect civilians, Mr Zuma has also criticised the air strikes, suggesting they were part of a “regime-change doctrine”. Western leaders have said the strikes will not target Libyan leader Col Muammar Gaddafi but they do think he should step down. Mr Zuma called for an immediate ceasefire and “rejected any foreign intervention, whatever its form”.

Namibia’s President Hifikepunye Pohamba agreed, calling the bombardment an “interference in internal affairs of Africa”. The African Union has also called for an end to the military intervention in Libya. Nigeria’s Foreign Minister Odein Ajumogobia said there were “contradictions” with the international community intervening in Libya but not Ivory Coast, where some 435 people have been killed and 450,000 forced from their homes over a disputed election. Col Gaddafi enjoyed strained relations with many African leaders, who disagreed with his plans to create a United States of Africa, with a single government, currency and army. But he was one of the biggest financial contributors to the African Union. Col Gaddafi has been accused of hiring mercenaries from several African countries to help battle the rebels. Many thousands of African migrants have left Libya after the anti-Gaddafi protests began in February. In his article in the New Vision newspaper, Mr Museveni questioned why there was no military intervention to help the protesters in pro-Western Bahrain. He also said the intervention would lead to an arms race. “The actions of the Western countries in Iraq and now Libya are emphasizing that might is ‘right,’” he wrote. “I am quite sure that many countries that are able will scale up their military research and in a few decades we may have a more armed world.” Mr Museveni called for dialogue to solve the crisis.
